September Birchbox: Unboxed

Hey y'all! I thought I would share with you one of my favorite things: my Birchbox.
I signed up for Birchbox in December 2014, and I have zero regrets. I've loved every month (except one but I accidentally picked the wrong box...I'm sure I would have loved my actual box). You get five samples of items ranging from makeup to skin care to hair care and everything in between.
If I've lost you already, here's how it works:
You subscribe to a monthly beauty box (for men or women). They'll ask you about your beauty routine, skin type, hair type, and other questions I don't remember. These help the people at Birchbox to create a customized box just for you! For example, I have oily hair. I said that I love dry shampoo, and I've received 5 different types of dry shampoo to try. I fell completely in love with one of them, and it's the only kind I'll use. Because it's customized, your box will probably look different from mine. You also have the option of selecting one sample or receiving the featured box each month. I enjoy picking a sample...picking the featured box got me in trouble once. This box isn't tailored to your beauty needs. One month I picked it and everything was just completely wrong for my skin and hair.
That's it! If you don't want to pick a sample or featured box, they'll send you your customized box. It's $10 each month (or $110 yearly and you save $10!). The quality of the products is great so I completely believe that it's worth it.
Now that I've explained it, here's my September Birchbox:
Every Birchbox comes in an adorable and brightly colored box.

There's always a note about your box with the product information on the other side.

Unwrapping my box feels like Christmas!

My five samples from my September box.

Here's a breakdown of what's in my box:

1. Harvey Prince Eau So Divine ($9) // (Perfume) Its notes include Italian lemon, pink grapefruit, Japanese lily, Moroccan jasmine, and many others that I don't feel like listing. It smells sweet and luxurious, just like paradise. I would probably wear this in the warmer months and possibly a little into fall.

2. amika Shield Style Extending Spray ($24) // I LOVE the amika line. Their dry shampoo is my absolute favorite (super great for darker hair and it smells heavenly). I'm excited to try this tomorrow (my hair hasn't been washed in a couple days so I'm not looking to extend this style). It smells like the dry shampoo so I already love it!

3. dr. brandt pores no more cleanser ($32) // I washed my face with this stuff last night and this morning. I'm not so sure about it as an actual cleanser (I'm a fan of my face scrub every night) but it definitely made my pores appear smaller (always a plus!). I could see myself using this once a day (in the morning) but probably not twice a day as it recommends.

4. POP Beauty POP Portfolio Eyeshadow - Sugar Plum ($45) // I love the term sugar plum (ask my best friend Katie). I also love purple eyeshadow (it looks great with brown eyes). This stuff went on smooth (it's a compact powder) and lasted a long time with minimal creasing (I tend to get eyeshadow creasing no matter what thanks to my oily skin). However, I can't see myself spending $45 on eyeshadow. But I'll use this sample until it's gone!

5. Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep ($20) // I'm such a fan of this stuff! I've started filling in my brows a little (with all of the hair on my head you would think I wouldn't struggle with sparse brows) and I've been using a cream/powder duo from e.l.f. It's great but it's kind of time-consuming. This stuff from Benefit looks like a mini mascara tube and has a mini mascara brush so it swipes on super quick. It's not a think formula so you can definitely add a little to just fill your brows in or add a lot for bold brow.s

Overall I love this box. It's probably one of my favorites. Typically there's maybe one sample that I like but I'm not crazy about and it sits and collects dust in a box. With these samples I can see myself using up every single one.

I highly suggest trying Birchbox out! Ipsy is similar since it's a monthly subscription but it's more geared towards makeup and not necessarily skin or hair care. I love the variety that Birchbox has. If you want to give it a try, let me know! I would love to send you an invitation so you can get $5 off your first box. All I need is your e-mail (leave it in the comments or shoot me an e-mail)! (You can totally sign up without telling me...I would just love to help you get $5 off your first box!)
