Last Minute DIY Halloween Outfits

I love Halloween! Dressing up, looking at other people's costumes, and the candy. It's all so good! But as much as I love it, I always end up waiting until the last minute to put together my costume. Very rarely do I plan out my costume well in advance. So if you're anything like me, this post is for you!

Option 1: Shooting Star
Image via
Camille Styles DIY'd this super cute shooting star costume. With some gold ribbon, gold spray paint, and a little paper and glue you'll deck yourself in a "stellar" costume! (Sorry for the pun - it was just too good!)

Option 2: Pineapple
Image via
Over at Studio DIY they came up with this super easy costume. Grab some green paper and anything yellow and bam! You're a pineapple! Alternatively you could throw on a red dress and be a strawberry.

Option 3: Audrey Hepburn

Marie at The Joy of Fashion put together a super cute Audrey Hepburn costume. This one is perfect because almost all ladies have a LBD (little black dress) and some pearls in their closet.

Option 4: Spiderweb Witch
Image via
Delia over at Delia Creates put together this super easy tutorial for a spiderweb cape. This would be perfect to throw on with an all black outfit and a witch's hat. Or follow her DIY spider crown tutorial and go all spider this year!

Option 5: Luna Lovegood

Yes that's yours truly on the right! This Luna costume was so easy to pull together thanks to the local thrift store! I found my jacket and skirt from the thrift store while the tights and t-shirt were from Target. So not only was it easy but it was cheap too!

Other easy options:
Scarecrow: Throw on a flannel shirt, straw hat, and draw a scarecrow face on your own using this video tutorial
Superhero: Target always has superhero shirts in the men's section. Throw one on with a super easy tulle skirt using this tutorial.
Oh Deer!: Dress up like a deer (check out this tutorial) then throw the word "Oh!" on your outfit somewhere. Such a punny costume!
Party animal: Take a cue from Lauren Conrad and go as a party animal with your girlfriends
Burglar: Throw on a striped shirt, black pants, and DIY a mask with felt, elastic, and scissors and you're good to go! Check out the tutorial here. Toss some fake money in a bag for an added bonus.

Do you already have your costume planned out or are you last minute like me? Unfortunately I'll be out of town this weekend so I'm not dressing up. But I did order this shirt from Amazon to pass out candy on Monday night!

Long Sleeve Swing Dress

This post contains affiliate links, and I will earn a small commission if you shop through them.

Here are a few pictures of the dress without a scarf to give you an idea of the high neckline:

If you haven't noticed I'm a huge fan of Cents of Style. They're so on trend but also so affordable! I had shared this dress with a few friends a while ago when it was on sale but it's on sale again plus I got to partner with Cents of Style to let you know about it!

Okay so why is this dress great? A few reasons:
1. As a gal with a larger chest, things that aren't supposed to be low-cut end up showing wayyyy more cleavage than I'm comfortable with. But this dress comes all the way up (okay maybe a little Amish-like) so there's zero fear of accidentally giving anyone a free show! While I wouldn't wear a neckline this high in the warmer months, it's perfect for fall and winter when you want to be covered up.
2. Speaking of covered up, it has long sleeves! I hate when I have a cute dress that I want to wear in the fall or winter but it's short sleeves so I always have to have something over it. But then it takes away from the dress and I don't even end up wearing it. Ugh such a tragedy. But this dress can really stand on its own even when it gets chilly.
3. Keeping with the larger gal theme, I have thick thighs that I tend to be pretty self-conscious about. I can't tell you how many times I've found a dress that looks so adorable on the hanger but go to put it on and I'm like "uhh yeah you can see all my cellulite and oh my gosh is that my underwear when I bend over??" I tend to order tall sizes in dresses just to give them some extra length. But this dress hits just below your knee so there's no fear of flashing anyone when you're bending over (shoutout to my mom friends who are always bending down to help their kiddos!)!
4. The options are many! This dress comes in so many colors (17 to be exact), including jewel tones which are perfect for cold months and totally on trend this season! But more than the colors, it comes in a size small all the way up to a size 3XL. It fits TTS (true to size) though since it's a swing dress it's meant to have a little more room in it.
5. You could dress this dress up so easily by throwing on a pair of heels and a good statement necklace or dress it down with converse and a fun hat. I chose to use a blanket scarf (that's currently on sale!) since southeast Ohio is finally starting to see cooler weather. But really this dress is so versatile - the ways to wear it are endless!

So now that I've told you why you need this dress, here are the details on it:
From today (Friday 10/21) until Sunday (10/23) you can get this dress for $21.95 + free shipping with the code DRESS2016. Y'all this dress is 100% worth it. Even though I get the privilege to work with Cents of Style, everything I've said has been my own opinion. I don't get an extra commission to be nice about their products - I'm being totally honest with you when I say I love this dress.

With that being said, I'll stop rambling about a dress. This weekend is the first weekend in a month that I'll get to spend in Oxford. And I. Can't. Wait. I've missed the farmer's market and the quiet that's Oxford on a Saturday. I think I'm going to paint my bedroom furniture and that may become a blog post one day. We'll see! But mostly I'll be enjoying the fall weather!!!!

Do you have anything fun planned this weekend?

4 Ways To Pumpkin Spice Up Your life

As soon as fall comes, I'm that person who breaks out everything pumpkin. And as soon as the temperature drops to fall weather? Pumpkin has taken over my life. I'm absolutely a basic white girl when it comes to fall! So today I thought I would share four ways to pumpkin spice up your life!

1. Light a pumpkin-scented candle
Yankee Candle has a great pumpkin candle, but you can find some great ones at places like TJ Maxx. These candles from Lord & Taylor come in super cute containers too. Of course my favorite candles are usually from Bath and Body Works, like Pumpkin Spice, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, and Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte.

2. Pick up some pumpkins and mums
Nothing feels more fall to me than decorating with pumpkins and mums. I love the rich colors of mums, and I've recently fallen in love with white pumpkins. I love way Emily Gemma from The Sweetest Thing decorated her front porch with mums and funky pumpkins. And how cute is Sarah Macklem's front porch? I love the white pumpkins she used!

3. Drink some pumpkin drinks
I've been dying to make this pumpkin spice white hot chocolate. How delicious does that sound? Or you can always stop by Starbucks and pick up a pumpkin spice latte!

4. Bake some pumpkin goodies
Especially as we get closer to Thanksgiving, I start dreaming of pumpkin pie. Or pumpkin bread. Or pumpkin cookies. If you've ever been intimidated by baking with an actual pumpkin, check out The Pioneer Woman's method of making your own pumpkin puree.

Clearly I love all things pumpkin. But there's just something so fun about diving head first into fall and pumpkins just scream fall! What's your favorite way to incorporate pumpkins in the fall?

October Birchbox: Unboxed

October's Birchbox was all about reviving and restoring. The products included features that brighten skin and rejuvenate hair. Keep reading to see what products I received and what I thought about them!

1. Escada Joyful Eau de Parfum ($74) // This perfume is a sweet, floral scent that would actually be perfect for warmer months. Going into fall, I like darker scents so I wouldn't wear it now. But if it were a liiiiiitle bit cheaper I would absolutely wear this in the spring!

2. DevaCurl Wave Maker Touchable Texture Whip Mousse ($26) // Since I wash my hair at night, it's always very hit or miss what wet products will do to my hair as it dries while I sleep. Usually I wake up and my hair is crunchy and frizzy and just not cute at all. But I LOVE this stuff!! My hair had lots of grip and texture but without the crunch and frizz. Plus, the texture lasted a couple days (well until I washed it again) so that was an added bonus.

3. MAKE Silk Cream Lipstick ($25) // I don't think I've ever used a lipstick that is so creamy and moisturizing! I got the color Taffy, which was a little more pink when I applied it than I was expecting, but it wasn't a bad thing! I'm not sure I could spend $25 on lipstick, but my lips were super soft even after the color had faded. Speaking of fading, I think it wears about like your typical lipstick. I needed to reapply at lunch then once I left work.

4. The Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream ($88) // My first impression was holy crap this stuff has a powerful rose scent! I'm not a big rose scent person so if you like rose, this stuff is for you! It's also a heavy cream so it would be perfect for the dry seasons! I didn't notice that it made my skin more oily though like other heavy face creams tend to do. The biggest downside is the price. 88 bucks! I don't think I could ever justify spending that much on face cream.

5. Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ($58) // This was probably my favorite product this month! Y'all. My skin was so clean and bright after using it. As I was putting lotion on my face, I noticed I was wiping away blackheads (so gross, right?). Which is so funny because other people have said the same thing in the reviews! And even though it's $58, this stuff would be completely worth it!

Denim Shirt Dress

Dress | Booties (similar)

Y'all know I love a good deal on a dress so when I saw this denim shirt dress at Target I had to pick it up. I've recently become a big fan of shirt dresses (check out this post). They're easily dressed up or down. You could pair this dress with Converse for a more laid back look, or throw on some wedges and hit up the newest bar in town. Also if you can't tell I'm obsessed with these booties.

I'm currently working on a makeup tutorial blog post for (hopefully) this Friday. But I was wondering if there was any other kind of post y'all would be interested in? I'm always open to hearing what you want to read so leave a comment if you have any suggestions!

Burgundy Bell Sleeves

Top: TJ Maxx (similar linked below) | Jeans: American Eagle | Shoes: Just Fab (similar)
How cute is our family dog, Belle? Her name perfectly matches the theme of this post :)

Hey y'all! How was your weekend? I spent my weekend in Rochester, NY celebrating one of my best friend's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and so is Rochester (shoutout to my personal tour guide)! On top of that, I rode up to NY with my boss and his wife. They're some of the most hilarious people I know. I'm so thankful I have such a cool boss who will hit the dance floor with people less than half his age and that he has a wife who gives great advice!

Anyway, I found this top at TJ Maxx and I immediately fell in love. Bell sleeves have become increasingly popular as we get deeper into fall. I wasn't a big fan at first, but I've definitely warmed to them. They bring such a great touch of femininity to an outfit. Unfortunately I couldn't find the exact top on TJ Maxx's website but I've linked similar tops below.

50% Off at J.Crew Factory

Hey y'all! Last minute I decided to change this post (hence why it was put up late) because I had to share this amazing sale J.Crew Factory is having from now until Tuesday 10/11. Almost everything online is 50% off! Yes you read that right - 50. Percent. Off.

I will totally admit that I actually love J.Crew. My budget however does not. So a couple years ago when I came across J.Crew Factory my wallet was much happier. Items from Factory tend to be more affordable options than their J.Crew counterparts. They've only been around for four years (this sale is their birthday sale), and I'm so glad this store exists now. Below I included some items I either have or are on my wish list. This sale makes it the perfect time to stock up on timeless pieces like sweaters and button downs. I've been so impressed with J.Crew Factory's quality items so you're definitely getting your moneys worth from this store!

I love the idea of a trench coat. It's so classic and can easily pull a look together.

I'm a sucker for a good sweater. I already have two of these and they're so soft and comfy! Plus, they're not really heavy so they're great for layering.

Yep, I would love to have a leopard print skirt. Not that I really have anywhere to wear it, but maybe one day my job will require more of a business attire!

They have some of the prettiest jewelry! I love this necklace because it can really bring a pop of color to an otherwise plain outfit.

I love leopard. To me, it's like another neutral color. These flat would go with so much! I love that leopard can be paired with more feminine outfits but can also bring an edgier feel to any outfit.

Below I've linked some more pieces I either love and already have or love and really want. This sale is good until 11:59 pm on Tuesday October 11. The prices are already marked online so no need to do mental math while online shopping!
